It started before the job
I'd known about the variations problem for years before I ever set foot in Direct Agents: one concept, resized and recut and re-laid out until someone's week is gone. What I didn't have was a way to do anything about it. ComfyUI gave me one. Before I was on staff I brought the proof to my interview, a pipeline that turned one display concept into thirty-six variations across three ratios, in a day or two instead of a week. Motif is what that became once it had a real product around it.
Variations
A handful of ads into hundreds
Variations turns a handful of ads into hundreds in a few minutes. And not by generating anything, that's the important part: it reads a layered file and produces every combination you actually asked for, deterministically, exactly what a human would've made by hand over three days. Making that by hand used to be the single biggest tax on a creative team's week.
Evaluate
Looking at the ads, not just the media around them
Video runs through a separate Gemini sidechain, because it's the better tool for actually watching an ad, and then comes back into the same debate. Routing by capability rather than by vendor.
Evaluate is the piece that's genuinely missing from performance marketing. The industry measures media exhaustively, spend, placement, audience, and pacing, then treats the creative itself as a black box, even though the creative usually drives the number. Evaluate looks at the ads, not just the media around them, and tells you what's working.
The part I'm proudest of is how it gets there. Rather than asking one model for an opinion, Evaluate runs a debate. A creative director and a creative strategist argue the read on a piece of creative, both working from the same slice of performance data and its best and worst performers, and a judge rules on what survives. A single pass gives you plausible-sounding generalities. Contention gets you something worth acting on.
Scout and QA
What holds the suite up
Two supporting pieces sit underneath the ones clients buy. Scout puts live campaign and creative data in front of you, the actual ads next to their actual numbers, so you can confirm you've pulled the right dataset before it goes into Evaluate. QA runs a pre-ship check on creative.
Neither is the reason anyone signs up. They're the plumbing that lets Variations and Evaluate be the product.
Verification
Don't take my word for it
Motif is listed on Direct Agents' site under Creative, where Variations, QA, Evaluate, and Scout each appear, and under Paid Media. Those pages are the agency's description of the product, not mine.
